Curiosity

CURIOSITY
I am perpetually curious about stuff. All kinds of stuff. Since I participate in a Mountain Steward program I am always looking for web sites and information about other parks, their incidents and their volunteer programs.

The following has very little to do with Old Rag but I just had to share this shot of the cable route up Half Dome. This hiking trail is the Old Rag Ridge Trail times ten if not one hundred in terms of danger. Like the Ridge Trail it is remote and very popular. Like the Ridge Trail it can greatly change its demeanor depending on weather. In the case of Half Dome, deaths and serious injuries have occured this very year. Like the Ridge Trail it can have back ups. Check out this link:

The Ridge Trail provides a lot more opportunity for seeing plant and animal life. ;-)

If you have kids and want to teach them about conservation Jane Goodall's Roots and Shoots web site in addition to Leave No Trace, Scouts etc. is a great resource.

Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots is the global environmental and humanitarian youth program of the Jane Goodall Institute. The program not only motivates young people to learn about pertinent issues facing our communities, but helps them design, lead and implement their own projects as a means of solving them.
